Microcement vs. Venetian Plaster: Architectural Selection Guide

Chemical Composition & Curing Mechanisms

Venetian plaster cures via carbonization (absorbing CO₂ to revert back into solid limestone), creating breathable, stone-like walls. Microcement cures via polymer cross-linking and cement hydration, forming a flexible, abrasion-proof composite barrier.

Shower & Wetroom Suitability

Microcement is 100% waterproof and continuous, making it the ideal choice for walk-in shower stalls, vanity tops, and wetroom floors. Venetian plaster is water-resistant when waxed, but intended for bathroom accent walls outside direct shower spray.

Aesthetic & Texture Profiles

Venetian plaster offers mirror-gloss depth (Grassello) or velvety satin stone (Marmorino). Microcement delivers a monolithic, matte, industrial slate appearance with subtle concrete movement.
